just popped in to say hi.....I am Kim and my partner is Gary we have just bought our first camper, a talbot autosleeper harmony and are looking forward to getting away for the odd few days together taking our dogs with us.....I have trawled through this great site but was wondering if there is an idiots guide to what we need to take with us as we are both total novices at this....also an idiots guide to what we must do or not do would be helpful....if there is something on this site that covers these points I would be grateful if someone would point me in the right direction.....great site x

Hi welcome. There's loads of threads, but two to get you started:

Lists of stuff are always personal. I never bother with insect repellent for example :p

But

Beer, loo roll, washing up liquid, soap, towels, tea towels, torch, matches, bedding, crockery, cutlery, pan/kettle, tea/coffee, kitchen paper, tin foil, first aid kit, duct tape, scissors/knife forms a pretty basic list.

There are plenty of idiots to guide you on this site, my dear. Some would say I am one of them. :D

Welcome aboard from another dog lover. 4 Whippets and a Pug ( soon to be 2 pugs ). That would make a good film title would`nt it.

Don`t be shy, get your ages on the other thread and no porkies :D

Same priorities as me! - Beer first :D

don't feel quite so mad now as we will be travelling with 9 chihuahuas and leaving the great danes at home with a sitter lol

Osiyo [hello] from another 'ampshire 'og. welcome to you and the dogs! I got 3 as well as 6 cats 2 birds and fish!
I am the mad redskin of Southampton who loves to play at being a camperholic and arrange meets etc.
It is too easy to over do things when you pack for a trip, so once you have got a nice big pile of the stuff you think you need, look again to see what is realy not necessary.
Too many pots and pans weigh you down! Make sure you have any medication that you need and do you realy need 10 pairs of socks?
It's all down to experience realy. you will get the hang of it!
Paol.

Newbie with no camper :-(

Just introducing myself. I'm in Devon, hoping to get a camper in the not too distant future. I used to own a VW bay window when my sons were small and had fantastic times with it and now I've got a bit more leisure time I want to see if camping still has the same magic!

First fill your fuel tank:eek:t
Make sure you have enough gas and water onboard.
All the rest you can get while your away if you have forgotten:rolleyes:
All the best WENDY & KEITH .

You never lose it, go for it.;)

Hi Kim and Gary and welcome to the site we have only been "on the road" as they say for about four years. We have a T25 VW and we used to cram it to the hilt with clothes and guess what we came home with 90% unused so now we put out two travel bags and what we cant get into them - stays at home. Take care and enjoy.
