Hi everyone

I've just joined the forum and thought I would post to say Hi to everyone.

We've been caravanning for years but always wondered whether a campervan would be better or worse for the kind of camping we do. There was only one way to find out, so last week we bought a cheap, home-converted Transit, which is now sitting on the drive waiting for a number of "jobs" to be finished. We haven't slept in it yet, but will before long. The great thing is that, having got the base vehicle, we have all the kit we would need from our "caravanning side". I can't wait to give it a shakedown run (and the forum here has given me some great ideas less than 20 miles from home!).

I've often thought that wild camping would be great, so I was thrilled when a link I followed yesterday led me to here. What a brilliant site.

Having had a good rummage round our new acquisition, I am already thinking of plans for converting a van to my own design. I'm afraid that the idea of buying a ready-made one doesn't appeal (sorry, motorhome owners), but the idea of building a camper that could be home for an extended, self-sufficient trip fills me with excitement.

Nothing of any value to post here yet, but it's rude to start asking questions without saying hello first! So hello all, and I look forward to chatting and comparing notes in the future.

Welcome...

Hi there and welcome! I notice that you come from God's own part of the principality, can I ask the general area you are located? As we love the SW corner of Wales sooooooooo much!

Thanks for the welcome! We're down in Pembrokeshire, quite close to Haverfordwest. Lovely part of the world (speaking as an English expat! - sssh). I love it down here. I came down here with work and ended up marrying a local girl and settling down. I've got a couple of brilliant tips for wild camping spots from this site already. Whereabouts do you visit?

The whole area really! Offers so much from the beautiful sandy beaches and almost waveless sea for the kids to beautiful, and sometimes rugged, coastal walks with sooooo much to do!

Will I ever venture again???

Hi, I'm new to the site, After a couple of fantastic weekends on the east coast under canvas in July this year went out out bought myself a Transit conversion, first van and all that. First trip = overnight on the prom at Blackpool, second trip =4 nights on the Prom at Llandudno, did some touring of north Wales & Anglesea. (excellent). 3rd trip, and this is where "oh my God what a plonker I am" Took the left hand turn at the bottom of my DRIVE too sharp and crunch!!!! Centre Door & Back wing caved in. My Great Orb as I call it is now in the garage hospital awaiting repairs. Its knocked my confidence something shocking, I just hope I can get back behind the wheel and take it in my stride. Tried to blame it on my new Sat Nav system telling me to turn left but didn't wash, Good luck with yours
PS I'm having my DRIVE widened;)
