Hi all I am in need of help please. I bought an Ace Modena on a 56 plate last summer. I then stood it up for the winter about 3 months only to find that I now have 2 flat batteries. I have managed to jump start it and have now plugged in to the electric on my drive hoping this will charge the batteries but I'm not sure how to use the electric switches above the door.
There are 4 reading from left to right.
The first has 3 positions with a cab symbol at the top and a habitat sign below. The second has an empty and full sign which is reading full and then when the button depressed it goes to empty. The third operates the water pump and the last is for the outside light.
Can anybody please instruct me how to use them IE when parked when travelling and when in storage with no electric.
Thanks
Anne

You cannot get an accurate battery charge level when you are connected to hook up, you will need to disconnect the ehu (electric hook up) and wait a few hours, then check battery levels.
Not sure on your buttons, perhaps you could post a photo of them?

The empty/full sign could be your water levels, if it is showing full that could be the fresh water then you press the switch and it gives a reading of the waste water level, the Ace Modena is the same (I think) as a Bessacar E450, here is a service book with wiring diagrams for the Bessacar, it might help

Hello Anne,

A warm welcome to the forum..

Battery discharged?

Hi Anne,

I hope you've already got over your problem and I see you've had some helpful input.

But if that is not the case;
If your MH has been standing for some weeks and or months without being hooked up to an electrical source [including solar] your batteries may have discharged.
In the worse case, there may have been a drain [anything powered from them] the quick and dirty way to find out their situation is to use a voltmeter on the DC setting [straight line and V symbol] set at 20 Volts DC or less and position the voltmeter probes at each of your battery terminals....they should be marked "+" and "-" or positive and negative.
Indeed if your batteries are "dry" [i.e. you don't put distilled water in them then] this is the only method I can think of to check them out.
When you say 2 batteries are you talking about 1 leisure battery and 1 engine [starting] battery or 2 leisure batteries?
In your note you say you jump started the MH so I assume you have one leisure battery and one engine battery, do check out the engine battery for liquid or charging, if it's been permanently damaged you'll need constant jump starts as it'll not be able to hold it's charge.....it'll need replacing.
If the batteries are "wet" that is to say there are caps to unscrew on the batteries, the next thing is to check there is liquid above the battery plates, if not they have dried out.
In these cases do get a good hydrometer and following the instructions to measure the specific gravity of any liquid you have in the batteries, based on the info just follow the instructions to treat the batteries, get them to the correct liquid level using distilled water or replace them. :-(
If the reading is less than 11.5 v dc [11.5 volts direct current] you may have dead batteries......although there are reports of Deep Cycle batteries being brought back to life from 10.5 volts dc.
Or your battery system may have shut it's self down to save the battery / batteries from terminally discharging themselves, in which case you have to find out the method to reverse that situation.
Once you find out which scenario you have, do come back and I'm sure we can help you through this tough time you're having.

Best wishes.....DEEPS

Hi, I would say your first switch shows battery, -cab to top shows you are using the main battery, hab to bottom shows using leisure battery (when parked up), and the middle setting will switch all power off to hab area. The second button sounds like your waste water to top, full indicates waste tank needs emptying? flicked to the bottom shows how much fresh water in your tank, (or other way round), 3 and 4 as you've stated, just make sure you don't leave the outside light on, its very easy to do with being quite dim. We have a Swift Sundance and thats how ours work, our battery (1st) switch can be in any position when parked up on hook up and will charge all batteries, but think some other makes need to be switched to the battery you want to charge, hope this helps.

I have a Hymer, first switch as you said shows battery charge, up for engine battery, down for leisure, second switch is water levels so similar to yours, third switch is awning light and fourth is the 'power switch', this switches everything off including water pump, interior lights etc, (I might have '3' and '4' the wrong way round but too drunk to go out and check), it does show that most of these power supply panels are similar though

Thanks all for your help I have checked the batteries today and they now seem charged .

First time wilding in Southend on Sea

Can anybody please give any information on over night stops near east beach or east of the pier and near the beach. I've looked at Shoeburyness area and the Asda car park is suspect to vandalism. We would like to stay for a couple of days without moving if possible.
