hi, I'm looking for some info on parking ,blocking a driveway. recently someone moved into a new build house that ,basically, was shoehorned into a cul de sac. recently they have started doing their garden. so far they have knocked down part of a shared wall, objected to a conifer that I planted 30 yrs ago, and are now moaning about our camper parked in front of our house. this evening he has parked across the bottom of our drive and refuses to move. I know this is a grey area but I wondered if anyone could shed some light on the right and wrongs of blocking a dropped curb and also preventing access for emergency vehicles. hope someone can help. I'm sick to death of being bullied.

Blocking an access is an offence - ring the police (not 999 though) and complain.

Agreed. A dropped kerb - or crossover to use the accepted term - is a lawful access to your property, and the police have to do something about any obstruction. Don't let them palm you off either!

well where i live you can block a entrance and they cant do a lot but if you block a exit then they will lift the car and by blocking a exit i mean that you stop exit of a car or van or whatever that is parked on the driveway yes ihave been blocked in on driveway and the police have come out and lifted the car well it was range rover so if they block you on your drive then you can get them lifted

Have you not got friends who could come and block his vehicle perhaps we could have a meet at his house lets have his address noted but without adverse comments that could affect your case at a later date

I'm tired so possibly not at my most rational but my suggestion is go round and punch his lights out, then set fire to his car :)

a second option, if you have a tow rope, you have a van it has lots of torque :)

midnight visit with a handfull of crickets through the letterbox . that will cheer them up

A friend of mine had a similar problem regularly and the police attended but in the end he was told to get the council to paint a white line across his drive which they did I think it then became a more serious offence

Take a couple of pictures and seek professional advice.

Start with the C.A.B. and take it from there.

If there is a car in the driveway being prevented from leaving police will get involved. But if your drive is empty and he blocked it the police will not be interested.

I'm fairly sure that parking a vehicle in a position which obstructs a driveway became a specific offence in October 2012. If so, any information prior to that date is almost certainly wrong.

What a pathetic t*ss*r!

Looks like another neighbour from hell story in the making :(

I would follow the advice in the link Wooie posted up and get onto your local council/police as soon as possible.
And like Simplyloco said, don't let either authorities palm you off!
The louder you shout (metaphorically speaking) and the more you pester them with your complaint the sooner they will do something to shut you up
(I speak from previous experience as a downright pest! ;) :) )

Tell them the whole story, ask for advice on what to do, ask if photographic evidence would be useful, ask for a white line or other legitimate road marker if it's possible and warn them that you won't be letting sleeping dogs lie and will be contacting them regularly until something is done to resolve the issue! :D

Whichever; you need to nip this cretinous bully's anti-social behaviour in the bud pronto before he thinks he can get away with even more stupid stuff! :ninja:

Don't be a victim, just be bloody persistent! ;)

From six years of neighbourgh hell. Inform police keep a diary, take pictures, get crime ref numbers if police involved get the officers numbers who attend ! Do you have a council team that deals with the community ?
Don't retaliate.
With enough evidence the police will help but it needs to be constant consecutive hassle, if your threatened they take that seriously.
Don't think oh it's only petty the police need to know it all three months later becomes hearsay :(
Good luck :) I moved ...

What is wrong with some people ! Just ask him to move & if he doesn't call the police ! I would even try to video your conversation too if poss ! When I was confronted about parking up near a Northumberland beach I took my iPhone out & recorded the rant from the chaps who were trying to intimidate me ! I really don't get some people I really don't ! Hope you manage to resolve this matter.

Cool, calm, don't get riled, make notes of everything.
Let off steam by dreaming about cricket bats & cans of petrol, but leave such thoughts in your dreams.

If you stay calm & polite you'll really p#ss them off.

forget the cricket bats they dont work crickets from the pet shop i meant .also a half pint of maggots through the letterbox realy pisses off nasty neighbours, they get big fat flies for weeks .i have used this method myself ,and it works ,especially if you hint about it after a few days or weeks.
