I have received a very useful message (albiet too late this time) in my private mail but can't see a way of answering or of pming, am I being really thick? Other sites for other things that I belong to it's very obvious how but I've come up with a blank on this one.
Thanks Teene

Recently a new set of rules was introduced at this site, which we were all required to accept in order to view anything here. Part of those rules was a stipulation that any complaints we might have about the way the place is run should be done via PM and not posted on the open forum. How is this supposed to work when most of the membership no longer have the ability to send PM's?

I agree worth every penny, but some people believe not (recent poll).
The less people who have access to this site the more protected our wild spots are, but we still must remember to share with other members or whats the point of this site?

Would do not allow free members to use private messaging as spammers use the system to spam our members, however they wont become full members.

The code of conduct says you should contact the admin, there is a contact us link at the bottom of every page on this website.

We are still changing this website, once the database is up and running people will get better access to the information.

There still remains a contradiction which I really would like to understand though Phil - what is a (non-spamming) free member meant to do if he or she has an issue to raise which falls within the one of the various categories mentioned in the new rules that may only be discussed via PM? Suppose, for example, a free member felt they were being subjected to abuse or bullying, which you have said has happened to at least one member here. It's fair enough to say that the victim should PM you or Cassandra rather than fan the flames by retaliating on the open forum, but without the ability to send a PM even to an admin, retaliation is the only recourse left open to someone in those circumstances. Or if somebody seeks to find out if another member who has not been online for a while has by chance been banned from the site, in the absence of the ability to send PMs or leave visitor messages, how can they ask about such a thing other than in the open forum, contrary to your new forum rules? Please can you clarify for me what would be the correct procedure for any free member who needs to communicate with you or Cassandra about something that you don't want aired in public?
