Hello
We have a dometic 3way fridge with separate but built in freezer.
Model c40/110
Rmt 7851L
We use it on gas when parked and 12v when travelling (gas off)
The light comes on when we switch to gas But...
1 the fridge does not cool.
2 the freezer seems Ok
Any ideas please
Also any knowledge of repair facilities near Florence
We are heading south to Rome Naples etc

Thanks

What are the outside temperatures at the moment? Upper 20s and into 30s these absorption fridges struggle...ours always did, fitting a fridge fan has helped...lots of other posts about that subject. Also it’s very important to ensure the cooling fins in the freezer are kept clear of frost buildup...it’s surprising what a good insulator a thick layer of frost can be. Also don’t stuff the fridge too full, the air inside needs to be able to circulate to transfer heat out of the fridge.

I've been told to remove the exterior vents in extreme heat to aid airflow over the fridge inside, but I haven't been anywhere hot enough to test the theory yet.

Hi if outside temperatures are hot take off outside
top cover only as the bottom one has electric and gas things in
HS and all that also chech and empty
the water trap which is in the bottom of fridge
outside bit, it’s looks like a white little cup
you may have already done this, the black pipes
at the outside of fridge should be warm
to touch, hope your beer is cold though

Thanks to all

It is very hot 35C plus.
Seems a little better.
I have emptied the water cup.
I also removed both vents whilst parked up.
But will replace them late at night.
Just have to make sure I buy cold beer.
And putting the odd can in the freezer solves that problem. Butter can also go in the freezer for a while.

Temporary fix...make ice in the freezer overnight, transfer the ice into the fridge during the day. Plasic bottles with screw tops are great for storing water/ice.
And stop opening and shutting the fridge door to check....the cold air falls out!

Working on sites 8/10 fridges overfilled when customers complaining fridges didn't work.. Often overlooked you make an excellent point

So we have a plan

1 or 2 big bottles of beer into the freezer until they are very cold. Then into the fridge.
Same with smaller bottles of water but give them longer in the freezer and rotate them between the 2
