Guy purchased Galaxy from guy, gets HPI check, all ok. Seller seemed a touch edgy so buyer took photo of seller. Photo took, car turns out to have been somehow stolen (or similar, I cannot remember accurately) and had, had an excellent ID change and turned out to be stolen after all... Seller placed ad on Ebay with photo of seller (from Manchester or Halifax area) aasking for ID help

I do not know if the vehicle was originally sold through ebay or the buyer was just trying to circulate the image of the seller through a medium that would get a lot of exposure!

Only been ripped off once on e-bay the biggest problem with their complaints procedure is it takes ages and they won't reveal the other parties address even when it is clearly a case of theft.

Purchasing Vehicles

Moral of the story... ALWAYS have an HPI check on any vehicle you are thinking of buying and ALWAYS veiw the vehicle at the address given on the V5/log book regardless of their reasons /excusses for meeting you in a layby, at their Mums etc!

hiya all

I once hade a problem with a seller on ebay and as already been said EBAY are reluctant to get involved, like banging head against brick wall. after a bit of investigation I went through PAYPAL ( although part of ebay ) they are regulated by the FSA ( which they don't admit to ) as it only applies in this country and with buying and selling in this country. Cross boarder and it's different, I will only buy from sellers in this country and pay by credit card although not always possible I know.

hope the weather keep shining for us all

Paypal ...

I must admit that when buying on ebay I try to pay by Paypal as it does offer the buyer more protection than if you're a seller! Paypal, in their small print, insist a seller sends items using an "online traceable" method and as many of them do not realise and just send items by second class you are still covered by Paypal if the item does not arrive even if the seller has proof of postage!
