Hi folks,

I've run into a problem with the thetford in the autoquest, I filled the tank and then the flush tank under the toilet, but when I flush the toilet the pump works but no water is flowing!

Has anyone ran into this problem? and what was the cure?

TIA

Cheers

If no water is flowing but the motor is running (make sure its not going elsewhere than the bowl) then the pump motor is OK but the impeller is either stuck or broken.

See this page User Information

and in particular Repair Instructions

Comprehensive repair instructions are given for most of Thetford's products

Hope this helps

Thank you for your input.

I don't see that 'impeller' ? listed, is there another name for it?

TIA

Cheers

No, impeller is the correct word if it is a centrifugal pump. It is connected to the motor inside the housing and swirls the water from the suction pipe to the pressure side of the pump. Sometimes they come loose or get blocked or just seize up.

Or could be something got into the water tank and blocked the line to the pump.

This is a big one but you should be able to recognise the major parts even though they will look different. The impeller is inside the thing that looks like a snail shell.

Your pump will look quite different but looking at the instructions I don't think it is repairable. You might be able to pull it out of the top tank and dunk it in a water container to see what is happening. Remove the outlet pipe and check if water is gushing out of the pump when it the motor is running.
