Oh my G........ I have found millions of mice droppings in the knife draw!!!!!!! oh its just awful... yes i am a big wus, We are camping in Greece and in the 39 degrees we are having a Spring Clean, OH gone into Pylos to buy some poison, I dont even like flies, one may ask what am I doing in Greece?... and that is just what I am asking myself, has anyone any ideas on what we can do.. just want to go home. feel like crying, and we have another 9 days before we can go, we have a dog and that hasnt detered the little B.......
OH HELP....:mad::eek::eek:

How awful

Are you sure you just got them or could they have been there since you left? Im not sure poison is the right way to go as wont they crawl off somewhere and die (in the van!)

We had one that got in the front room of our house recently, we kept finding droppings on the furniture. I went out and bought the trusty old little nipper mouse traps. Put some sultanas on them and very quickly caught the little bugger. It was bad enough having one in the house let alone the van. I would however try the traps and you can get ones that are humane and will trap the mouse live inside so you can release it somewhere else. Hopefully it will just be one and you will quickly catch it and you will look back and laugh about it one day and enjoy the rest of your trip

cheers

quite normal. mice love a holiday as well .buy a mouse trap .you can buy them in any country. i keep a couple in the truck .normally take them for a ride to maroc and back. i find bacon rind is best to lure them ,but english chedder or a bit of mars bar works as well. last year was about the first i didnt have one .i pick them up in spain wild camping. the little bugger do it as well. officials never ask for their passport so i sneak them in. cheers alan.

Oh I dont know how you stand it, dont know where Iam going to sleep tonight, the thought just makes me feel sick. Got the poision and cleaned the van from top to bottom with Dettol, only finished at 3 this afternoon, then went and had some lunch, not even had breakfast or even a drink, got back from lunch and looked again in the empty knife draw and low and behold 3 more dropings, there is poision in the there but I dont think they have touched it,
we were only gone a couple of hours.

I dont think they came with us as I put clean sheets on the bed lasst week and didnt see any there then but now there are dropings everywhere, will go and get some traps but OH is a wus too so dont know how we will empty them!!!!!!!.

Does anyone know where they will be living? will they have made a nest somewhere? will they every Go?

This is just one of my worst nightmares. All that know me will know what I mean.

Will try the mars bars.

Thanks all

mice !! or mouse?

The clue where they are is in the droppings ,well i mean if there's droppings in the cutlery draw ??? then they reside in this cupboard or down behind it,sometimes they can enter through your lockers or floor of van if you have vents or mesh there, sometimes it is just to big to stop the tiny critters,i too would advise the trap,as the poisen might kill it in your van ,then you have a smelly little corpse ....and what goes with it  maggots.so if you snap it or catch it live then you know its gone, empty the draw, but dont clean it this time, put the trap in there, make sure it has room to 'spring' or close, with the little tit bit firmly in place.good luck.

I have neighbours who feed the birds so we get a lot of mice, I routinly set traps in the shed.
I would reccomend the little nipper, its fab, dont buy the copys, the real ones have the name printed on
My most sucessful bait is peanut butter.
The humane traps I have had one down for months and caught nowt, they do go in it as occasionally the bait dissapears.
Set a few under the bed, back of cupboards, the mice will run along edges of walls and not out in the open.
I would set 4 you should get at least one mouse, but carry on trapping for a few weeks after, clean your work surfaces before you prep food.
Have a look to see how they have got in, look at your spuds under the sink and you might find tooth marks.
Most importantly, dont fret, you can soon shift them, they are lovely little things and its a shame to kill them but if you dont you will be overrun in a few months

If he/she/they are running around in your cutlery drawer you could try using glue pads - ie sheets of card with a strong glue on as well as the Nipper traps. They're less humane and you will have to kill any mice you catch (a problem if you're squeamish!!) but if they have a definite route/run then this could catch them very quickly.

Poison tends to be slower-acting. I've used it for rats and it can take more than a week for them to succumb which is possibly longer than you can bear to wait...

Good Luck!

You will get them or it and the nipper or similar in greece is the way to go. Practice setting the trap though. You need to slightly raise the end with the bait otherwise it wont spring. Test it with a spoon not your finger as it flipping hurts! Hopefully it will kill them outright but if it doesnt take em outside and stomp on them.

Mice will get through any gap as low as 1cm. So find the hole or entry point and fix it.

Good luck and dont despair. Let us know how you get on.

Update: Did you all not hear me scream in England.... its a wonder, started cleaning again this morning, went to the bed I usually sleep on which is over the garage and lifted the matress up and there looking at me was mickey!!! I just sreamed I think the whole of Greece must have heard me. not been back in the van since. We have been to see the poision expert who suggested this poison, they are like blue tablets. OH just been and had a look under matress and there he/she was again he stood and watched and it ran down the conduti pipe at the end of the bedroom and went into the garage then down another pipe under the van. Cant even go in the van now, and not stopped crying I just hate them, I know its stupid and I keep telling myself to stop being silly but I just cant. Thank you all and will keep you updated.
Will they ever go?

Aghh! poor you. Not pleasant. When I caught ours Mrs D wouldnt even look at it. Your not alone with your phobia of mice. I had two trying to get in the house last night. I was stood in the back garden having a fag and the pesky things kept running across the grass towards me and the french windows which I quickly shut.

This is probably a none starter for you but I would keep something handy like a bat or a rolling pin and if you do see Mickey again you can give him the good news! Maybe however it may be easier to take the van to the poisen expert and let him sort it, book into a hotel for a couple of days perhaps.

I think i will need to book into a hotel as just not sleeping....

Well the update this morning is only a couple of droppings in the knife draw, and one of the tables has nearly all gone so maybe its dead!!!! or is that wishful thinking.

OH has sealed up the holes from the garage into the bedroom and as many in the garage has he can, but when you look there seems to be big holes were the pipes lead into the motor home and not only that but if you look behind the knife draw it seems pretty open of anything to get in YUK what next snakes maybe!!!!!! oh G..... hope not. Only one week left now..ypeeeee!!

We have a hymer B524 anyone any tips on trying to seal it everywhere or is it impossible. There are still gaps around the bed over the garage but OH says there is no way to seal it, Surley there must be but he says the board under the bed is too thin to fasten anything to.

I know I am going on a bit but am now so scared of everthing!!!!!!!!

from the biggest Wuss going
