Hi,

I drop something onto the work surface and it has made a small hole (See pictures).

Any suggestions on how to repair it?

I was thinking of some sort of clear filler, maybe some sikafix

Any sugestions / what have other people done?

Many thanks
Matthew

hi visit a good kitchen fitting showroom or hardeware store they sell coloured glues just for trhis sort of thing . its possible to get it almost invisible repaired .even by yourself .

Looks like a plastic laminate top, As a repair all I suggest you can do is fill with say an epoxy based filler sand down carefully and touch in with the nearest matching paint or a piece of the matchinglaminate carefully let in... difficult. But it's always going to stand out like the proverbial dogs b.......s. I would replace with new work surface.

Hi wolfie69
is the worktop likely to take warm to hot items etc, is it likely you will be near lincoln at all, if so i could have a look at it for you.

in the repair world, to be honest there is no such thing as an invisible repair, however hopefully the hole could possibly be filled and colored to mimic the rest of the area so the repair doesn't stand out too much, the repairing technician will be trying to get it to be almost undetectable unless it is known where it was originally. the problem that i think i can see from the pics is the awkward pattern.

so you could either have a go yourself, if that doesn't work call a technician who when seeing it in the flesh should be able to tell you if they can do it or not and should not charge you from that point if they cant reach a satisfactory repair that has been agreed with you before they start.
or visit magnum motorhomes in grimsby see if they have a matching spare in.

good luck

A few years back, we purchased a caravan with the same problem, something hard had been dropped onto the worktop surface. We asked that the caravan company repair it, before we bought it, and they, very neatly, sunk a wall tile into the worktop.
The repair looked very good, especially as it was near the hob, so made an ideal spot to place hot pans and kettle onto.
We sold the van on, and nothing was asked or said about this lone tile set into the worktop. It looked like it needed to be there.

i was going to suggest something similar as my answer to most cock ups is make a feature of it,and would insert some stainless discs to act like trivets

Many thanks for all the reply - food for thought.

I will have a stab at repairing it myself with some filler (not sure what yet). and see how it looks

Again many thanks

id try getting some glue under the piece that pointing up and either a clamp, wedge or weight to hold it down whilsts it sets that will minimise the area to fill you could try milliput epoxy putty as a filler the normal one is grey so might blend in
