I've been wildcamping for the last 10 years, ranging from bivi bags in hedges, to using bothies in the highlands, to sleeping in my cars, and over the last year or two various vans, until last year when I bought myself a Landrover Defender 110 TD5 Hardtop, I'm part way through converting the back into living space. Generally have long weekends away and have travelled the length of the UK in it.

Best motorised wildcamp I've ever had was two of us living out of a Citroen C15 for 10 days in the Glenco area (mostly parked up behind the Kings House). Worst would have to be a week in the lakes living out of a ford Escort.

I love the Lake District and Norh Wales but my heart belongs to the highlands!

I am originaly from South Wales and have spent many nights at the foot of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, but now I live on the south Coast of England in Portsmouth. I joined this forum as I have knowledge that I hope can help others, and now I am living in new teritory I feel a little bit like a fish out of water.

All the best
Mike

Hi Mike - Welcome to the wild side, you certainly have had a variety of sleeping accommodation but now I think you have the best of all you have had and hope all goes well for you, and if you have any questions just ask away even if you think it is a daft question. No questions are daft we all started out not knowing a lot about our M/homes/camper vans but eventually built up a knowledge base with help from other members.

hi neighbour

Stealth camping is a blast and agree with you about the highlands. We are planning a trip in July and I cant wait.

Today the stealth camper is turning back to a 9 seater for a family trip to the Lake District next week.

Might see you about as my daughter lives in Hilsea.
Happy camping
Stormy...... :)

Welcome:D Your clandestine camping will no doubt be of benefit:cool:
