Hello everyone.
I,m surprised to find it,s 6 years since I was last on the Forum. Thats because Iv been without a Campervan for a while. Anyway back to the roads we go!!
I,d forgotten just how good this site is.!! !
Weve just finished a Van conversion and we are yet to begin our first trip.Did the conversion on a Fiat Ducato which we think is a great Van. This time weve opted for a back lounge .This is because we couldn,t get along with the long bench side seat .Its always a problem if two people are in the Van. Who is going to get the prime spot.?
One person relaxes the other sits upright.
This time we won,t have that problem 2 benches which can be used as two singles.
I,d be interested in member opinions of Satalite TV We have no experience of these but have read they can be hard to sort. We have usually been off to Scotland up into the Highlands so I imagine this could be an even bigger problem. Would be lovely to get Tv though
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank Cherryphilju

When you have clear skies, it has to be the most stable way of obtaining Tv whist out and about. However the choice of satellite is like opening a hornet's nest as the market is practically flooded and so many poisions to pick.
3 main categories;

Full portable kits £45.00 to £150.00, once you've overcome the search techniques no worries.

Crank-ups/semi Automatics £249.00 - £600.00, bit like portables, but using built in guides/charts and mechanisums to assist in searching.

Fully automatic Domes & dishes £999 - £2999.00, no need for searching for the satellites as it does it all for you!!

The above can be used wit a Sky Box, Freesat or "Free to Air" receiver, again a bit of a choice pending on your set-up at home if you use Sky there already.
I am removing a Maxview crank-up in favor for an Alden auto system, as to be hoest I'm lazy and cannot be arsed to be finding the sats myself, but again I have gone this route because I want the ease of finding sats in France (although you can still do this manually once you have learned the techniques).
Hope this info helps :)

welcome back to the site!!

if its a good tv your after go to wedodigital.co.uk and buy one of the all in ones bit like a laptop. had mine 2yrs now brill bit of kit, digital tv/radio,dvd,cd,freeview,300 games console!!!!'£180

I have an £8 camera tripod with a sky dish attached. Set up in minutes without a satellite finder. It was hilly up the West coast of Scotland last week but usually got a picture.

On another forum, they are saying that Tesco are selling a digibox for less than £40. It`s made by Phillips but is the same as a Pace box. If it is 12 volt, then you could opt for that.

I have a similar setup to 'maingate' , sky minidish(painted white) on a magnetic mount sits on van roof. I got a stronger signal from Uig on Isle of skye , than i do at home in Blackpool.:D cost me £15 , just use my home sky receiver through inverter.

But not taking it this year. Because the boss (Mrs) says If i want to watch Tv then I can always stay at Home.

LOL, funny that as had the exact comment from Mrs J, till Easter Friday and all day down pour and those famous comments of "I wonder what's on TV". Funny that considering that "Getting satellite is OTT" till there's a time when she wants to watch it...............weird that isn't it :)
