I am preparing to depart for foreign climes and have checking things on the Murvi.

The Murvi is on the Fiat L/W ducati van and I have purchased three tyre inflaters over 20 years and the only differance between them
is that each one has been marginally less useless then the previous one.

Slow, but OK up to 55 psi but then they slow down almost to nowt.

Can anybody , somebody recommend a pump that will pump up the tyres on a fully laden jumbo jet so will deal with my minor task efficiently ?

Totally P********sed off. Dezi :mad2:

p.s. Anybody say "local garage" gets a severe smack round the ear from a dwile flonking expert.

Had one of these for 3 years, paid considerably more at the time. It’s been excellent and rated at 100 psi.

I bought the above after I read Obanboys recommendation a few months ago and I am very happy with it. I have my dually tyres linked together with a single inflation point so a tyre inflator has to pump up BOTH 215/70R15 Tyres at the same time. This unit does it no problem.
This is a link to the Amazon listing for the same unit at exactly the same price - Ring RAC900 Heavy Duty Tyre Inflator, Air Compressor with 7m extendable airline, brass connector and storage bag: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike . Just an option if you are an Amazon Prime customer and so you could get it tomorrow if you departure is imminent!

I've used a Ring 900 for many years. It has proved really good, except the fitting that connects the to the tyre valve. I replaced that with a standard double-headed one.
The Ring 900 is a good example of decent quality at a reasonable price.
Ref the valve fitting ... did you replace it as it was not good for a twin wheel setup (which I think you have?). Just wondering as I think that valve fitting that comes with the 900 unit I have is actually very good and lot better than many I have used.
Or maybe they have improved on that aspect in later models?

Beware of pumps that run from 12 v power supplies. As they can blow fuses I prefer crocodile clips .

I,ve a high pressure stirrup airpump intended for recharging air guns. OK just for adjusting pressures would take a bit of effort to completely inflate a van tyre 60 to 70 psi about 20 strokes

I bought a 24l air compressor from Toolstaion, around £100 8bar, may be a bit OTTT, but has other uses too. Did you say it had to be portable?

Looking deeper into the the specs of the tmax and ring I've decided to go with the tmax and ordered one, the ring is a collaboration of the rac and ring wich isn't a bad thing but it maybe misleading when it claims to be the one the professional use.aside this the thread has cropped up before with the tmax and ring being good buy's and I was going to buy the ring when it came to it which was today as I have not had a puncture in nine years and this thread brought it up again.payed 82 quid for the tmax including puncture outfit.also the tmax looks more robust

Earlier this year I killed three tyre pumps!!! A dual cylinder foot pump rated to 60psi the end came off the cylinder... my Halfords booster / inverter / pump went bang.... My cheap Aldi pump literally exploded.... All whilst pumping up a tyre on a Fiat Stilo!! So I've opted for the T-Max heavy duty as listed earlier in the post.. only down side is you need to disconnect the valve whilst it's still pumping - I've found it great for pumping up totally flat tyres etc but to just top up a couple of PSi can be tricky to get all tyres the same....

I'll be using my T-Max permanently mounted with a pressure cut off switch and "charging" a small air tank - I'll then use a curly coiled air line with a simple push on tyre adapter / other air tools as and when...…

T-MAX gets my vote all day every day! Just be careful and read the instructions!!

I use a bicycle stirrup manual pump fitted with a gauge. Bought it from Aldi needs, no power supply and burns calories while in use. Many folk have borrowed it when we've been away.

Good choice Dezi, I too have had this type over a year now with no problems.
Would have liked a little longer electrical lead but it does the job well.

As far as I know, my Ring 900 has nothing whatever to do with the RAC. I think that was a subsequent marketing tie-in, but the (excellent) product pre-dates it.

Well the model number is rac900, it's promoted as being used by the recovery service and showed as being used by the rac looking at the specs though show the tmax as 72 litre air per minute and 30 amp.rac900 is 52 litre per minute and 23 amp ratlng.the tmax just looks like you could drop it off a cliff and it would still work in comparison to the Ring Witch looks less robust.
