Could anyone tell me which headlamp deflectors you use for the new shape transit, are they the standard tear drop shaped ones,

Thanks,

John.

Thanks Alan, we will be travelling through the night When we leave for France in 4 weeks. it's because we have them funny shaped headlamps on our new motorhome.

John.

Have heard stories of sticking black tape on the plastic type of headlights can cause them to crack,:scared: don't know if it's true. I fit the super beam benders, managed to get a couple of trips out of them by removing them carefully & renewing the double sided sticky tape. Also heard that you can be done for not having beam benders (or tape) not fitted even in the daytime, again maybe just an urban myth.

One thing I've noticed this year is it's getting more difficult to find free overnight parking especially where we are now (at the Auchan at Boulounge at least free here & with wifi from McD). Tried Le Portel & it's now a pay aire using a card (place where we used to park was full of fairground vehicles place was chaotic). Signs saying no motorhomes on the front at Boulougne near the aquarium. New aire on the way into the town but they charge 5.10€ & you have to pay for water & electric. Gris Nez is also now not available, not sure where we will find tomorrow:mad::mad: Might try Ferme Magasin Cap Nature at Audinghen (found it on another site supposed to be free to stay but you have to pay for water & electric)

Diesel 1.269€ cheapest we have seen was 1.259€, cheaper than we had been paying in Spain which was about 1.29€

Black tape always works for me. However, the option to have a beam bender of some type is not an option. It is required by law in case lights are required during bad daylight or storms. The police can be awkward on this point if they are in a bad mood!!!

there is also an eu law that says if a vehicle is legal in its country of origin it needs no alterations as a visitor to another eu country. i would just give the police grief .or the courts . i dont make the rules but do try obey them. make authority follow its own rules tell them i said so if you like.

I have a set of the prism type beam benders. I put new tape on every year and park in front of the shed with the lights on and use the SWAG method (Scientific Wild Assed Guess)to align them. Masking tape will craze many plastics if left on in sunlight for too long, not sure about double sided tape but I get it off as soon as I can. I have heard tales of foreign police lurking at ferry ports picking up Brit vehicles without adapted headlights, but have never experienced it...

I used the Halfords ones on my Mk7. About £12 I think but they did work.
