Looking at travelling across one side to the other ,stopping off at various points.Has anyone done this wild camping with a motorhome.Recommend any places to stop or places of intrest.
You do not say when you are wanting to be in the area but if you are a C&CC member, there is a Temp. Holiday Site running until August 5th at Corbridge. It is ideally placed for visits to several Roman sites.
We have just come back from 2 nights there. It should have been 3 but the weather is atrocious. We are going back for a week in a few days time as it is a great place and only 30 miles from home.
We did this route a few weeks ago and found spots very difficult to find at least on the wall road itself. There are possibilities on some of the small roads off the main one but depends prob on size of your van. Theres a campsite halfway along but it was expensive inn our opinion. I beleive the pub also half way down is do able but havent stayed there myself. Nice CC CL at brampton and one at Gilsland. There is a nice country lay by near lanercrost priory near gilsland but check on google walk for access before going as the lanes in that area are a bit tight.
Hope that helps.
Hi Gary. We followed Hadrians Wall on our return trip from Scotland. Stopped in very quiet layby at the village of Wall, it's being used to store road surface materials but there seems to be plenty of space for 2 M/H's. There are toilet facilities at the playing field nearby.
Regards Nolly.
