When I open my habitation door it squeaks on the hinges, they look to have some rubber or plastic bushes on them, what is the best way to lubricate them, I was thinking WD40 oil, but not sure, also should I lubricate the garage door hinges and the external lockers. Cheers

Hi, I would use a white grease spray or a silicone spray not WD40, WD40 may affect the plastic washers in the hinge.

Urology nurses just take the pee.

I was told to use silicon spray for plastic and a lubricating oil for metal but never WD40... this after years of getting it totally wrong

If it squeaks, then you know that it's working, when it stops then you know it's fallen off (I used to have a mk2 Land Rover !!)

I would advise against silicon spray.

It may do the job but will very quickly be removed by water e.g. rain.

i use it on kid's slides, routers and sawbenches, sliding doors and locks in general , curtain tracks and blinds, hinges and zips- never without a can, no residue

Silicon spray Dave .wd40 for electrical etc stands for W WATER D DISPERCENT

As above posts, and if you ever use a grease for outside jobs then quicksilver 2-4-c water proof prop grease is best, its in a handy tube with cap.

A sqwert of wd will do no harm but should stop the squeak for a while , if it does stop you will know you have found the cause .do each hinge in turn to identify the culprit .
