Hi all,
We are currently away in France with friends( very warm atm)
Our friends are considering having a habitation air con fitted to there van. Not knowing anything about which to buy/ which to avoid.
Can anyone recommend a unit please?
Thanks
D

I have the Dometic roof mounted unit which is very good. Different sizes depending on the size of van.

We have a Beldray unit runs off 12 volt and mains .we ran it off our 12volt all last night and our two 110 amp batteries seem to have coped ok.Wont cool the whole van but kept the missus asleep . £25 from Amazon.

Thank you, I think they are looking at one of these ones that are fixed to the roof( proper jobby :)
The one you have sounds right for me and upper management tho, can you link me please to it

If you are thinking of a mains roof unit and have a Truma boiler they do one which is compatible with their app.

My van came with truma roof mounted air conditioning from new we love it but you need a mains hook up to run it tried running it off inverter via 200amps of lithium batteries it worked fine but hammered the batteries

Beware the evaporative coolers ....

They are vaguely OK (though nothing like a compressor based unit)
IF the humidity is low ...

Anything like vaguely humid air and they are pretty much just a fan .

Will give you a verdict on our air con if it gets friggin' hot enough to use the damn thing.

That could well be true , only use ours in Spain , don't think Spain does humid. They are definitely not as good as a complete roof mounted system but works for us.
