Sadly reversed into a small sawn off tree branch creating a small hole in the rear bodywork with a few star cracks overall about 150 x150mm. Bit of a puzzle as Mrs Moped was guiding me at the time so you can imagine the immediate conversation after the bang! Covered it with duck tape and a GB sticker so no visible evidence. As bodywork is laminated star cracks are static and not getting longer. Could leave it like this or get it repaired but one repairer quoted £450 which seems excessive for the small repair required. Are there any recommendations for GRP repairs shops in the West Midlands or thereabouts. I have photographs so online quotes could be obtained. Thanks in advance.

I would fill the hole with Sikaflex or similar sealant and then cover with a decal, or possibly depending on its location a reflector with a symetrically placed companion.

I repaired a similar hole in my last van for about £30 is the damage accessible from both sides .most of money was spent aerosol paint and primer's ,i did have some materials. In stock. A photo could help .you could fill the hole and crack's with plastic pading epoxy gel coat repair filler .it is white and may match you gell coat ,it is a very smooth filler and if final coat is rubbed down with wet 1200 or smoother wet or dry a very smooth finish can be achieved .it is a water proof marine filler for below water line repairs .ideal for motorhome GRP repairs. Open up star cracks to a v shape and fill .if not satisfactory then an aerosol paint job will finish of the repair .

Sorry about this but replies reminded me I have reported the bodywork type wrong. I have confused GRP and ABS. It is ABS. Hence the highish quote. If it was GRP a local professional repairer said they could have done the work for £120 but he would not touch ABS. An ABS repairer quoted the £450. You cannot mix GRP repair products with ABS it seems. The bodywork is solid laminated with layers of insulation and it is the outer ABS skin that has the damage exposing the insulation behind. I have read that a mix of nail varnish remover and white Lego bricks might work as a filler but would still like a professional body shop recommendation if possible. Is there a guy in Telford who does work?
