Hi back again after my first weekend out in are motor home great site even got a pub right next door made to feel welcome by all staff back again 2 weeks time anyway i have a Mercedes Venture 410 Motorhome, 1994 Coachbuilt 4 berth... first the awning pole snaped people who own the pup were so helpful managed to rewind it back people camping, motorhome, caravaning they were all agreat bunch of people to meet anyway reason for this message talking to two great old fellows who have been motor-homeing for years and repairs them told me to put a cup of oil mixed in with my Diesel is good for the engine has anyone out there heard this before anyway thanks for all your help before i went and i cant wait for two weeks time.

A few years ago the lubricating properties were reduced in diesel, they called it low sulphur diesel, we used to run Denis Darts slfs and they all went down on fuel pumps as the pumps couldn't cope with the lack of lubricant. Your comments about a cup of oil is probably relating to that. Probably ok on an older motor but I would be wary about doing it on a modern diesel.

Buy some cheap semi synthetic 2 Stroke engine oil to add to the engine.

Put about 250 ml (1/4 litre) in a full tankful at first and then 100 ml every now and again. I use it in my Fiat 2.8 jtd engine and it seems to be doing no harm at all. In fact, it is running very well. Plenty of people do it and with a 1994 engine, you could probably recycle your used engine oil by putting a cupful in the tank.

low sulpher diesel

i have a 1979 dodge 50 fitted with a perkins 4236 eng .do you think it would benefit from the extra lubricant thanks .terry
