Great North Run overnighting ?

Hoping to watch our daughter do this years run and park overnight somewhere local.( She has accomodation in University camus with friends who are also running) Anyone any ideas where we could wild camp convenient to the route please ?

If you do a search, this has been brought up before and there is somewhere at South Shields near the finish line you can stay.

If not, google earth the coast road South of South Shields. There are a number of car parks but maybe no overnighting signs.

The local council provide an excellent parking area for motorhomes etc near the finish.Toilets nearby.Stayed there last year.Can't remember how much it cost but is was not expensive. A nice friendly atmosphere as well.

Thanks guys - I got in touch with South Tyneside Council , they sent me a form to book a space for the van on the Bents Park Camping area.
Its £10 a night if anyone else is interested.
