Can you all experience motorhomers cast some light into this, We do like a good shower when we have it.We will be most grateful Thanks in advance

We have a wet room of this type in the Kontiki, It works fine but space is a bit limited. The head adjusts to change the jet from shower to tap.

Of course a seperate shower / sink is nice but it uses more space. In summer we use a solar shower hung off of the tent or van.

if your tap is like this Whale RT7500 Beige Combo Tap & Shower Mixer - Water Taps & Spares - Caravanning - Family Camping Supplies - For all your family camping needs
were the pipe enters the sink water always gets in there when showering and wets through the items in cupboard .

just had a look at link it is simular but not exactly the same being the mixer is on top and shower handle pulls out 2/3 inches below at an angle would I have the same problem with water running alonf the tubing into the main mixer body???

We to have just recently brought an old a class hymer and i have been just getting use to the furniture so to speak, but can confirm that the shower head does turn from normal to shower flow,i did also notice that water escaped by pouring down the hose into the cupboard,so i wouldnt put toilet rolls in there.
Was thinking of taking a look at the fitting itself at some point!:)
ENJOY:cool:

does it mean a clean up inside cupboard after every shower and how strong is the flow from shower (we have power shower at home) can a pump retro fitted to boost the flow??

not posh a 15yr old van is what i can afford

I had a similar problem with my last van. It did not really bother me because I found the most efficient way to use water was to fill the sink and use a jug instead. Soak yourself, soap up and then rinse off with the jug. You only have about 10 litres max. in your water heater so a leisurely shower is out of the question anyway.

yes its a clean up job most times .shower can be powerful if someone dos not use kitchen sink at same time lol

Shower pressure

Shower pressure will be determined by the flow rate of your pump.Usually 7-10 ltr per min.You can uprate the pump but that will use more water and test you drainage sys (some are pumped out).THe flow rate will be shown on the pump.7 ltr is kind of O.K. 10/11 is more like a power shower.Your onboard heater may only hold 10litres so you have to be quick. If the wife says a cold shower is good for you ,may as well put the champage away for another night!!

is a leisurly shower out of the question for any >6M van then

You are limited to how fast the water heater will heat your water you don't have a large tank of hot water. Electric showers are a no go as campsites do not provide enough amps to run them.

You gota remember you are camping even if its a more luxurious form of camping, when your walking across the campsite towards the chemical waste point your the same as the tents and the caravans :D

We book into a decent campsite when we need a real big shower, mind you you have got to know where the campsites are with decent showers, we keep a mental note of these things are :)

Thanks for explaining, I am new to this
So during wildcamping , I take that shower is not high priority even if you have access to clean water

OUR Hymer is not posh neither 18 yrs young in fact!!
We havent used the home in jest yet as we only brought 2 weeks ago but went to Manchester to visit the inlaws so have at least got some driving done,i am itching to get it used so we are buying the hymer bed covers tomorow!

We have the same kind of shower.... doubles up as sink tap and shower head but have never used it as a shower in the six years of owning the bus as we don't really think it a good idea. Always shower outside. Moden ones are a different matter but older motorhomes don't tend to have the all in one shower room, and have more joining panels where water can get in.

thanks everyone, I think I have good feedbacks to decide viewing tomorrow with cheque book in pocket

coolasluck
are you 1st timer as well, what model did you purchased regards

We use ours but its never like a shower at home its really a tool for getting clean and not smelling and less a luxury as you can't shower for ages even if you have the room. From what I have seen even the seperate showers are small anyway. The wet room I like because its designed so that everything can get wet, with the seperate shower rooms unless you are a small person you end up with the door open and the non wet room gets soaked. I'm 6'4'' so maybe its more about me:)
