After a three month break I'd returned to Comfort to talk about insuring our new van, coming in March.👍👍😁👍👍

We seemed to come unstuck on "where do you park overnight". In the past the answer has been "on the driveway". This year their underwriters have tightened up their definition of driveway which because of it's wording excluded the land around our property commonly owned through a residents association by us and 14 neighbours. We don't have a drive in any conventional sense.
The underwiters insisted that the van would have to be classed as parked on the street (!!) and was therefore uninsurable by them. Comfort then approached another underwriter and came back with a street parking quote for £1900+ (ha ha).

I was about to end the call when the Comfort agent says, "could you send photos of where it will be parked plus any other info. We'll take it up with Aviva. They are slow to respond to this kind of thing and I'm not holding my breath". Ok says I. Not holding out much hope.

Next morning, ( today) a call from Comfort to say they've squared it with Aviva. My new premium is well under a third of their first quote, and includes Euro breakdown and 3 additional drivers.

I've been with Comfort for 14 years and expect to stay a while longer
