We wanted to go on a small Euro trip mid July and head down to Italy as a highlight.
but exactly where we have planned to visit, the earthquake has happened.

Not sure if we still should go, can imagine that the poor Italians have other things on their mind than tourist.

What do you think???

most earthquakes effect a very small area and i would suspect they will want the customers to helpthe local economy recover

i hope so because we are meant to be heading the same way at the end of july

where are you going? We want to stop at Venice and drive down the cost to spend a few days at the beach before heading home via Bologna, Modena and maybe stop at some of the lakes

Hi
Not sure if PM worked.

Yes we did go. We spent a bit longer in the Alps then had originally planned, and only got as far Malcesine, East side of Lake Garda, again enjoyed it so much there we didn't get any further.

Certainly there, it was most definitely business as usual, even early on in the season plenty of tourists. Wouldn't even know there had been a earthquake 150 odd miles down the road.

I wouldn't think twice about going, even it the worst hit areas are still in chaos, you won't have to drive far to see tourism as normal.

Oh, be prepared for pricey diesel, UK prices + I think ranged from about 1.65 to 1.79€

I was down that part of Italy 3 wks ago without any problems at all it seems quite normal.

Be careful in Venice.

I was told that it is not safe to swim the streets at night. :lol-061:
