Glasgow to Glastonbury

Hi all,

We've hired a motorhome for the first time and are heading to Glastonbury this year for my fiances 40th. We leave Glasgow at lunchtime Sunday and are planning a couple of stops on the way down.

A rough idea was to stay overnight in the Lake District on Sunday night and somewhere between Alton Towers and Glastonbury, maybe Gloucester/Bristol/Weston Super Mare areas

If anyone can help this total novice with a little guidance or any alternatives I'd be hugely appreciative. I've been looking at maps but to be honest, I don't have much of a clue..

Many thanks

Might see you there:wacko:

I would heartily recommend becoming a full member here at which point you gain access to all the stops listed by Canalsman, these can be put on your satnav and you can just head to one as and when you need it.

Probably the best £15 ever spent!

good luck

Have a look in the pub stopover section for a couple of overnighters on the way down.

It might feel a bit more secure if you are a newbie to the game. Be sure to ring the pub up and make sure that it is OK.

Google Earth is a handy tool when planning a trip. :have fun:

Hello and welcome
I went last year and was intending to stopover at Devizes enroute. But I heard from someone I know who was working there that they were opening the sites early. If you can get there by Tuesday midday and you will be able to get a pitch which isn't far from the entrance, but away enough to be quiet-ish. We were a 15 minute walk down the hill from the main entrance and 5 minutes from emptying and filling points.
Have a great time I hope the weather is as good as it was last year. There is a website which will give to the programme and times so you can gain maximum benefit,I think its called Clashbuster, the Gaurdian also produce a list of performers on line and in the paper.
There is a 24 hour ASDA at Cribbs Causeway,jcn17 M5. This has fuel and a cafe but there is a Rotten Ronnies(McDs) as well as a KFC nearby,ASDAs parent company Walmart has a very relaxed attitude to RV overnighters who shop with them.I fuelled up there and did some last minute shopping. Some pumps are automatic and take cards.
My daughter is working there this year,I'm sooo jealous.
