I've just topped up my gaslow system with12.5 litres of gas, cost £4 that works out at 32p per litre.

John.

Yep, I go into smug mode everytime I fill up...

Can I ask where you got it from at that price ??? That is very good !! It is over 50p per litre everywhere I look.
We even paid .59p on th A64 round York a few weeks ago
Jackie:)

I got it from autogas Etruria, Stoke on Trent. They normally charge 40p per litre, but today they charged me £4 for 12.5 litres.

There's a POI file available which shows LPG outlets across the UK both on and off forecourt. Off is usually cheaper.

That is very cheap, paid 55/57p/ltr on our recent rip to Scotland, and that's the price here in Mid Wales.

Happy Camping:)

I would be very interested if anyone has the POI could they possibly post it. I too have been paying forecourt prices and they seem to average out around 55p, though I too have seen them as high as 58p

the prices on the forecourt include road fuel duty ; in reality you are to allowed purchase it without paying that as it is for domestic consumption ...but places where you find it available are few and far between

maybe in the case of the cheap price quoted they had a dual system , if that is allowed

52p a litre here in Macc,.......still beats rip off Calor.:):):)

Bottled gas need not be a rip off.;)

I paid £16.45 for a 6 kg bottle of Energas at local agent in Whitby.:(

When I got home, I paid £28.69 for 2 x 11 kg bottles of Energas from their main depot in Gateshead.:D

It pays to shop around

There is a garage just off the A1 in Gateshead who charges less than the prices on here for his autogas. Petrol and Diesel is often cheaper than the supermarkets.

Has anyone tried the adaptors sold on ebay that allow you to refill gas bottles at petrol station?

Perhaps MORE importantly what do they say when you get a Calor Gas bottle out and try to fill it!!!! As they must be aiding & abetting a criminal act as due to the valves they are not supposed to be refilled in the way a car tank can be!

This is an old chestnut, A gas bottle can only be filled to 80% capacity (to allow the liquid room to Gasify). Gaslow bottles have a safety valve that prohibits the filling above this capacity. Calor or any other makes of normal cylinders do not...... so unless you arrive at said filling Garage with an accurate calibrated set of monster scales .... then you risk sending liquid L.P.G to your appliance and ending up with a scene from a Vietnam napalm raid,,,,,,,, inside your VAN:eek:

Thanks for the info Tres'. A motorhome dealer filled my 13kg propane bottle with a said adaptor as they owed me a refill but didn't have any bottles. They used the pump gauge working on the principle that a litre of LPG weighs about half a kilo - so they put 26ltrs of gas in the bottle, and I haven't made a remake of Platoon (so far!).

But point taken thanks.
