I have the Euro adaptors but never filled up outside the UK yet.

When I installed the bottles the connections all needed to be really tight to avoid any leaks. Therefore do the adaptors really just screw in and allow refilling without any leakage.

A word of caution.
I assisted a Brit in Spain who had never filled up and noticed the difference in adapters. His did not have a non-return valve fitted, whereas mine has. When he completed his top-up, the adapter is just unscrewed with no problems, just a small puff of gas when removing the pump filler. When using my adapter a small portion of liquid gas remains in the pipework when I remove the pump filler. If you simple unscrew the adapter you can get a severe cold burn from the liquid Lpg. I usual do a quick touch turn to release the gas or alternatively use something to push in the non-return valve.

I suspect that that this valve was originally designed to allow filling of cylinders that did not have non-return valves fitted????

We find the Euro adapters easier to fit and use than the standard uk bar and twist configuration. Here it really is hit and miss if we get a secure lock so the pump will dispense gas.

I have just treated myself to the new Euro adaptor and also the recently introduced in-line filter GAS IT Direct GAS IN Filter, DGI with UK bayonet extension. - GAS IT Leisure Gas Bottles, Gas Cylincers and Gas Tanks - Catering, Motorhome, Campervan, Caravan, Farrier and Road Repair Refillable Gas Solutions. because you occasionally hear stories of problems caused by dirty gas.
You can see on the photo the thick rubber seal that you screw up to, so the only chance of a leak is if the seal is damaged and needs replacing. All seals, washers etc are readily available, at moderate cost, on the gas it website.
