Can some one point me in the right direction for how to manage heating gas with refillable bottles that is getting more difficult these days including in EU member countries were the fittings are different for swapping them ?

This is what you need for almost every gas pump in Europe.

Perhaps one of these for using a stand alone Repsol bottle for instance

In UK I use Flogas 2 x 11kg bottles at home they deliver to my door if away just a phone call gives me their nearest outlet. In Europe most garages supply gas so easier there. I've a French pigtail which I've found all adaptors for different countries fix to. Which I got locally in Europe and off the internet

The hose link in post above is for connecting a bottle to the fill point of a van with a refillable system fitted won't help you
This will connect your UK propane hose to a French propane bottle https://www.lpgshop.co.uk/shell-w21-8mm-to-calor-uk-pol-nut-adapter/ and then if you screw it onto this https://tinyurl.com/ybdgn7o2 it will enable connection to a Spanish bottle (repsol among others) see in the link which other countries its suitable for. Then for Dutch/German bottles
https://gasproducts.co.uk/gaslow-dutch-german-adaptor.html this fits into UK / French adaptor
