What do you preffer to cook with whist away camping?
We got a double ring gas cooker which is good and easier to use but dont taste the same as a real bbq. So we do tend to pack a few disposable bbq's for the beach :)

Same as you, you can't beat a real flame for a BBQ. You can always pile on some wood afterwards as well to keep warm into the evening :)

Having said that we have a gas BBQ at home which we use all year. Any sunny afternoon we fire it up and sit in the sun trap for something to eat. You can't beat em for convinience

We have a table top gas BBQ which has a hot plate that channels the fat away into its drip tray making for healthier eating. Theres no flare ups or things droping through onto the coals and you can do eggs. Also it stays cleaner and only needs the non stick hot plate washing afterwards. It may not be basic living but it is so good and packs away under the seating inside the van'.

Sounds like our system - portable gas stove which runs on disposable cylinders and the 2 part grill with a water trap round the edge. Works fine indoors and the whole lot stuffs in the gas locker. Easy to clean and no fuss.

CAMPING STOVE HEALTH GRILL PORTABLE COOKER + 8 GAS A51 on eBay (end time 07-Dec-09 12:24:12 GMT)

That looks great, ya ours runs on desposable gas containers as well (maybe not the cheapest way but i don't worry about that) and this keeps all the cooking smells out of the bus. Its worth it.
