Just seen a article on gas in france. When you are over there you can hire a bottle with regulator ,called , le cube.It is cheaper than here ,just hand back when you come home.Avaiable from garages and supermarkets.Saves any problems running out ,if you are going for long period.

Nice one never new that, however I generally only 2 weeks and I dont use much gas as my water heater can run on electric as well as gas of cause

I've been using 'cubes' for several years now. Very handy. They are distributed bij Shell in garages and supermarkets in France. In Belgium,Holland, Luxemburg and parts of Germany in gas-depots. 5kg netto buta or propane (a must in winter). Easy click-on regulator (should become free with 1st bottle). Lightweight alu bottle in plastic covering. Lower in height than steel bottles (so I am able to put a Campinggaz-bottle on top of it for emercency in my 'gaschamber'.) I come along for 3-4weeks with a bottle (cooking and boiler)

How do you run on electric? do you have a generator?

We have solar-cels; 50KWh. OK in summer when the sun is shining and standing high. In winter and rainy days only 30%; it gives me enough autonomy tough to survive. I don't like the noice of a generator; a little bit asocial behaviour.

We spent 6 weeks in France earlier in the year and were a litle worried we would run out of gas so we bought a cube from a Bricolage for 29 euros including the regulator. We did get a propane one first but the little adapter to connect the rubber hose to was not available so we exchanged it for a butane one (not easy when you have limited French words)and works a treat.

i have been told

that the patio gas regulators are the same as the european click on regulators i have a clik on propane regulator and a few others stashed in the shed i am looking them out and will do some experimenting in the new year on our next trip over the water
if it was not such an expence i think i would opt for gaslo or similar and refill if i needed to whlst away

I also have a French Twinny as well as the cube and spent ages trying to fit the regulator to it until I realised it was one of the UK ones so I doubt you will have much sucess with that idea.
Anyway when you get a regulator thrown in there seems no point.
