I’m only looking for a cheap short term fix for a 5-6 week trip into the EU which may get extended, thereafter I’m looking at a new van which will have LPG tanks.

Did 3 weeks on 2 x 6kg bottles last year, no issues. But it’s not impossible that this year could go to a few months or more.

I have 2000 kontiki and now put an 13 kg size refillable and a standard 13 kg propane for emergency's. Nice snug fit working well.

Well that seems to confirm that the dealer was talking bovine faeces. Some of them seem to make it up as they go and aren’t bright enough to think that some people are capable of asking sensible questions when something looks suspiciously unlikely.
