I have a 2013 Auto Sleeper, Burford Duo there’s plenty of room for 2 x 13kg Calor LPG bottles, but came with 2 x 6kg bottles.

I’d like to use 13kg bottles but the dealer said they would be too heavy for the gas cupboard (suspect they were just saving money)

Anyone have knowledge of this please?

The height the regulator is above the bottle may be a factor. A picture of the locker might help others contribute.

A quick google click h bought this up Boris7-

The dealer is talking ballocks !
Measure up your gas cupboard and go on the Calor website which has the cylinder specs and if the 13kg fits it will be ok.
No way would the motorhome manufacturer make the gas cupboard large enough to fit the 13kg cylinders without ensuring the floor could take the weight, it’s basically wasting space which they wouldn’t do.
If the 13kg does fit just use the gas in the 6kg cylinders then when you go to change them just change them for 13kg cylinders. Calor may be different but when I had a Flogas 6kg cylinder I changed it to a 13kg cylinder at no charge apart from paying for the gas.

My thoughts exactly.

Just being careful I guess.

If it were true there would be warning stickers all over the gas locker they wouldn't dare do otherwise.

Gas bottles are rated by the weight of gas they hold. The bottle probably weighs as much again for a 6kg bottle (don't know, because I don't have one). An 11kg bottle doesn't weigh much more than a 6kg bottle, except for the extra 5kg of gas. So one full 11 and one half full 11 are not much more than two full 6s. I would put money on what the dealer said as being nonsense.
Get two of the biggest bottles that will fit, or better still, one refillable.

If the locker is big enough to hold a 13kg bottle and the regulator is higher than a 13 kg bottle, my guess it was made to carry 13 kg bottles.

Stop being a tortured twink Boris, man up and get two great big stonking 13 kg bottles, insert them in your great big hole, connect them to the rego and stick the kettle on!

Jaysus, he'll be colouring his hair blue next and sitting in the middle of the road with a Just Stop Oil banner and singing Kumbiya My Lord.

Tut. 🤨😵‍💫

😇

Calor group their cylinders into groups and will exchange cylinders for other sizes in the group.

I don't think 6kg and 13kg are in the same group.

Full details of the groups.

Would it have been easier to read post #6 it was big enough.:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

You could compromise and get Alugas bottles. They are considerably lighter than steel bottles because they are made from Aluminium.

I’m only looking for a cheap short term fix for a 5-6 week trip into the EU which may get extended, thereafter I’m looking at a new van which will have LPG tanks.

Did 3 weeks on 2 x 6kg bottles last year, no issues. But it’s not impossible that this year could go to a few months or more.
