Garmin in Europe

Hi we have an ancient Garmin Nuvi. We plan for our first trip to southern Ireland but the Nuvi wont accept post codes for Wales or Ireland. When using the "Where to" option then the "Address" option the heading is ENGLAND with either:- town, post code or search all but no way to use Irish post codes. The response is always "not found". The maps are there and it is fully up-dated. Can anyone suggest a way to use the post codes for Ireland please.

My nüvi is currently offering "Select City or Postal Code in France" (which is where it was last used), but at the bottom of the screen is the option to "Change Country". It will accept "United Kingdom", "England", "Wales", "Ireland", "Eire", "Northern Ireland", "Scotland" inter alia.
