It seems much better in many ways since I re-formatted the SD card and updated it. I like it a lot and would not change it despite it's nuances of which I am finding more of as I try out more features. Our Garmin 760 sat nav recently gave a single route of 27 miles which seemed rather excessive so I played about with the vehicle profile settings to find out just why. I reduced our gross vehicle weight setting in the vehicle profile from 4.2t and found that when set at 3.8t it gave the expected direct route of just 12 miles, a saving of 15 extra miles! I wondered if there was perhaps a weight limit on some bridge leading back to the main A road causing this anomoly, but there wasn't, just a simple country lane! The defining line here was between 3.8t & 3.9t? Yet it is now back to showing the wrong national speed limits for class/weight of vehicle when set at 3.8t but was fine at 4.2t. No great issue at all with the displayed speed limits but better than it sending us on any completely uneccessary long detour. More experimentation of settings needed I think? I happen to have it set on Eco mode at present.
I have found that if you enter a postcode and go, then enter another postcode it will not give the option to add that to your existing route but just forget the first. But if you select a postcode from history it can add it to the route.
We were following a route the other day approaching a roundabout when it suddenly decided to recalculate for some unknown reason and instead of the previous right turn it sent us left only to do a U-turn and then follow the previous route. It's the first time that has ever happened. I first wondered if it had lost it's satellite lock, but that would not cause this. Though when it recalculated I'm not sure that it followed my previous route choice? As said I still like it lots, free lifetime map and traffic updates are great, but just have to be aware of it's mischievous ways! Maybe all sat navs are pretty much like this?

At the end of the day they are what you make of them and IMHO The Garmin Camper 760 LMT-D is by far the best of them.

None of them are perfect and yes the Garmin has it`s little foibles, so long as you understand that it`s great.

Our has also comes up with some unrealistic distances which are down to a very very short section of 3.5t so i ignore it and carry on.

One springs to mind straight away when going to Uzerche there is a little section like that no one including articulated wagons takes any notice of what so ever.

I never blindly follow it and always check the route to the best of my ability, sometimes i ignore its choice if i do not like the look of a particular road en route.

Glad I'm not the only one. I reduced my weight and the routes became more sensible. Yes refreshing as you approach an important junction. I've had a few doo that. We did end up sending ours back because it kept turning itself off. Generally approaching a junction. They replaced it.

Got the garmin 770lmt that has it's issues as well - got a tomtom truck as well with issues but they work together if you are careful - they all have there problems but they are better than swmbo's map reading - which is why i have more than 1 satnav
