funny fing happened

driving through town with my 4 yr old granddaughter,we overtook a horse and cart,with a spare horse behind,which excited her as she's never seen one before,what kid that age has? it was a mate of mine driving and later on,sitting at the kitchen table,she sees the outfit clop into my garden.the look on her face was great,turns out the mares are a bit knacked,so he wants to leave them in the garden for the night. one is a proper carthorse,big old girl,the other a largish welsh cob,seeing her feeding them carrots-pure delight. one day i'll tell her he'd just been taking an old traveller's coffin to the graveyard,his last request was,take me on a dray,if you can't find one,a dumper truck or jcb,but no hearse!

I would have loved to have seen her little face when she was feeding the horse. I bet it was a picture.

Reminds me of when my daughter was very young and we drove passed a field of sheep, she was looking very intently at them when we asked why she was looking so serious,she replied that she was looking for one with 3 legs because she knew we were having leg of lamb on Sunday!
