Full timing from tommorow!

Well taken the plunge, sold my flat (lucky enough to have a back up place at my Mums if dosent suit!) and going full timing. Bought myself a Chevrolet Astro, for a good tow vehicle with lots of extra storage capacity.

Pick up the 'van tommorow from Oxford a good couple of hours drive, and then begins my full timing experience! Ive bought a german LMC caravan only a 19 footer the extra build quality will pay dividends in the winter months, its a great layout with a east-west bed at the front , side dinnette with end kitchen, should suit me and the dog just fine, nice roll out awning for a bit of extra space.

I have booked a site in Horsham at 1st and will be travelling around Sussex over the next year. Another reason for getting the Astro is to check out a bit of wild camping and leaving the caravan behind, on the odd occasion - so will let you all know any good places, Ive already spotted a few that have not been mentioned on here.

Also just got a new mobile contract, which allows me free internet browsing, in fact using this now, no slower than broadband - cant be bad, ideal for the travelling lifestyle!!

Hi, interesting to read that youve sold up and gone fulltime but you are staying in this country! I have done the same thing but plan to go to euroland and tour there, scarily exciting isnt it.

This is my first post on this forum but I have been watching from the shadows, taking notes from all the interesting posters here and also another really good forum, the SBMCC, I know there are a few people who post on both these sites.

hope to meet some of you folks on the road. chris

did you say SUSSEX and a caravan !!! this is a respectable site !! get yourself \up to scotland where you wont be harassed by "jobsworths " every time you think of stopping...we are going to portugal spain and france in march foe 8 weeks and then up to the hebrides for june before the midges regain their appetites !!!

Poor Jamestopdog

Don't worry Jamestopdog, I'm sure Steve4Kay is having a friendly dig. I think you will have a job to wild camp with a towed caravan, in the manner we do with our MH's. What ever you do, best of luck and have fun. Atleast you have one advantage over most of us, you can drive off for the day whereas we need to take the local bus, taxi or walk.

Crickey Jamestopdog, wouldn't fancy lugging a caravan around full timing. We changed to Motorhome about 5yrs ago, on our 3rd now, after 25yrs caravaning. Best thing we ever did, although towing held no fears for me as the driver. But with the M/home, you can simply shoot off at a moments notice, parking up practically anywhere. No, would never go back to a 'van, but the best of luck with your venture.

Ooop's, you have a sharp eye for missing words. Do you remember in one of my very early posts> I said I would come of second best. I gonna have to get me a script writer.

Silk Purse from a...

Wild Camping??? Suppose you could always turn it into a burger van and stay in a lay-by. That would be wild!!! (for a caravan)
