Does anyone have some idea of costs incurred ie weekly living costs, when doing a 3 or 4 month stint abroad? How much do you reckon it costs per week?

I did about 6 months abroad last year and spent about £15k,lived like a king to be fair.
Always used sites and travelled over 20,000 km
This year I am renting out my house and will have an income of £600 a month to live on abroad in the van.
£100 for food,£100 for fuel and worryingly only £400 a month for beer and fags

bit how longs a piece of string.we live on £i00 or less no probs, never eat out, occasional coffee and snack,no campsites, bunk in to places of interest and festies, can be done as cheap or dear as you want.also quite happy to pick up a bit of work here and there, what nobody tells you is that this lifestyle can get pretty boring at times, and the weather can trap you in the van for extended periods,so you either need an active imagination or a big sat dish

€1000 per month, which would include door step and back to door step on a 3 month tour. This includes return ferry tickets, fuel and food. Fuel being your highest cost. If you enjoy a drink and eating out, you need to add the difference to those costs.

As others have said, it really depends on how far you travel, whether you use campsites, wildcamp, aires or a mixture, what your tastes are and when you go but we regularly spend six months or more travelling around Europe over the winter half of the year and our total costs come to around £1,000 per month. You can work it out by taking your normal expenditure on food/housekeeping (food is not so very different in cost but alcohol is a lot cheaper!), adding on the anticipated fuel usage based on your proposed itinery, adding in ferry costs and the entrance fees to any attractions you want to visit and then seeing whether or not you have enough left to stay on campsites or whether you need to wildcamp and use free aires. One thing, however, is sure - you will have a great time. Happy travels.

I am lucky i live down here but most weekends we are out in the motor then 5 months in Portugal in the summer when you get to know a place you find your cost can be very little or you can go out ever night to top places to eat, last year 700euro total it could have been a bit cheaper but i meet this bad lot from England who led me astray keep going to the old Spanish bars and making me drink some red stuff:lol-049::lol-049:. And I never do Campsites.

When I first came over to Spain for a month in an old Mercedes i wild camp every where with no problems. Now is getting a bit harder but still can be done

I keep telling myself that if I can ever find that bloody map i should start thinking about coming back last time i saw it was 16 years ago now.:lol-053::lol-053::have fun:
