Fuel Prices

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is unavoidable and therefore OK, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see theprice of petrol
come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their
Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one) ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

so if we use Asda,,Tescos,,,shell,,,texaco or total,,we wont be any worse off,,maybe it will force the price down...

i also think it is time to be militant but wont the refiners shell bp and esso only increase there prise to tesco?

Nobody is going to reduce the price of fuel. So we might as well get used to it. Its not very nice; in fact, its B. horrible but there you go

As far as the Goberment is concerned its Mind over matter - they don't mind and we don't matter

I'm informed diesel is £1.04 in Guernsey at the moment.

We're being seen off. Might as well get used to this fact, it's been going on for a long time & not just with the price of fuel. If fuel is sold to a global marketplace why are UK fuel prices so high ? Quite simply, because we're not doing anything about it. Don't believe me, have alook at the profits that the oil majors have reported over the last 12 months

D.

The main by product of oil is petrol and has no other use other than to run petrol engines ,if cars did'nt use it what would they do with it,you cant burn it bury it or get rid of it any other way ,without huge polution and global warming ,so they must keep us petrol heads as long as they can ,so instead of extorting us they should pay us to get rid of it.
But the North sea reserves suddenly pop up with enough for another ten plus years of tax.
As soon as that runs out scotland will be handed independence on a plate but then the wealth that keeps the heads above water will be gone.
Other Countries have charging stations for electric cars when will we get ours,we will probably all be dead by then.
My fuel bills are nearly double this year well it feels that way how long can we keep going like this tell you what guy Fox was a good guy.

As a Nation, we are pretty apathetic: We will point to the French and say "How wonderful how they stand up to their Government over fuel prices" because it suits us to say so.
When they are so keen to get their hands on our Lamb that they BBQ it on the dock-side then its a case of "How terrible, we wouldn't allow it etc"
What we would do well to remember is that in Europe there is a totally different Union structure to the UK. In the UK we have a number of Unions all with their own agenda. In European countries, the Unions all march to one tune and because of this are very much more powerful.
No, I'd like to think that something would happen but I doubt that it will.
There is a world wide shortage of oil products. It is going to get very much worse because of the demand from the expanding economies ie China and India
So on that grim note, may I suggest that we all get used to it?

i agree, we have no realistic chance of hurting the suppliers, should we not be concentrating on the real winners in this situation, our own goverment, their revenue increases with every price hike, how about petitioning Downing Street (and talking to our own mp's) for a reduction in the percentage of revenue they charge us

Agree also it will cause a widespread food shortage etc, time to tighten the belts the rainy days are fast aproaching.
get out in your vans as much as you can and enjoy life to the full with what we have.
Iam ready for the off vans packed time to go.

the price of petrol is very cheap only about 40 or 50p a litre, it is our thieving government that makes it high with there tax they put on top. yes the petrol company's are making massive profits but just think what the government make for doing nothing, the petroleum companies have to produce it store it transport it pay for the upkeep of the petrol stations and pay the masses of people in there employ so now tel me who is robbing us

:eek:Well we are back to the "old Turkey" again and the debate remains fairly static. Its the government, its the oil companies............. Firstly the government have had no real part in the rising price of crude oil on the international markets, unless they have started to speculate our taxes on the stock market. They have become a beneficiary, but as taxes are used to fund, N.H.S, Schools, Benefits, Roads etc etc you could argue that indirectly we are all beneficiaries as this takes the pressure of them raising taxes in a alternate manner. The tax revenue raised is an escalator and V.A.T which both rise according to the price charged at the pump............ That price is determined by the oil companies, who I am sure are not in the pocket of the government as they have teams of megga accountants and lawyers paid zillions to avoid taxation by any way conceivable. The profit at the pump they say is small beans to them and that the big money is in refining........ Excuse me is not petrol and diesel, L.P.G, oil based cosmetics, plastics etc etc all refined and paid for by us? and if the big bucks come from refining are not those costs somewhere in the price at the pump cos if they ain't where are they? The second rogue in this equation, who seems to escape without blame, is the futures speculator, this particular form of extreme low life will attempt to make a profit out of his own grannies death bed if he could sniff a quick buck and he doesn't give a toss about the price of petrol or derv at the pump as he is so megga rich he commutes by private jet and helicopter and has enough stashed away to make wayne rooney appear to be on the dole wages wise............ and now for our last but not least demon, yes presenting from the desserts of the middle east its..... MR OPEC. he refuses to pump more crude because a high price is guaranteed if demand outstrips supply so why sink more wells or open the tap a bit more to achieve a lower price. These people know what their power is.... Petrol in Saudi is 0.04p a litre that's the real price of oil and they at the beginning of the chain and are the guardians of our misery, Hey but cheer up we all know who has a massive well to do high up family in Saudi don't we........... MR OSAMA BIN LADEN, just to cheer you all up. These are the facts and the only tool we really have is to cut our demand, individually and globally and no amount of protest, or boycotting will make a pennies worth of difference. But look on the bright side at least the harvest hasn't failed, or we don't live in Zimbabwe, Szetzwuan or Burma.
