Just a pointer about fuel costs over here, diesel prices are often 10centimes a litre cheaper at the supermarkets than garages and sometimes they even have 'sales' on fuel , I think I paid 1euro9cents a litre at Leclerc this week for gazole,

you're right, have to be registered by VAB.
But they have it also an English page http://www.vab.be/en/vab-engels.aspx
But there I didn't find fuelprices at this moment.

Today, 15/1/08 Intermarche are selling diesel at 1.198 Euro a litre which is about 91pence at exchange rate about 1.30

Today, 15/1/08 Intermarche are selling diesel at 1.198 Euro a litre which is about 91pence at exchange rate about 1.30

Here on the continent diesel prices are practicaly the same in every country around 1,1€/l. Germany slighly higher ,Eco-diesel is cheaper, but you cannot get it everywere. Only Luxemburg stays cheaper 0,85-0,9€/l.
Best buy in France are the supermarket pumps (Intermarché, Leclerc, 'U', Match), don't use the expensive pumps on the 'péages'.
Prices are going down now a very little, no more than 0,05 €
