Rather than use my oil filled radiator to warm up the interior of the moho to prevent freezing I was think about using a tube heater in the compartment where the Truma boiler is situated. Anybody done this?…and was it a good idea? Look forward to peoples comment, constructive or amusing.😀😀😀😀

I drain down the water while I am not using the van:
1.Turn off the water pump
2. Open mixer taps half way
3. Open boiler drain valve and open fresh water tank drain.

Also drain waste water tank and empty cassette and wash out.

I think using heating when the van is not in use might be a condensation risk.

I don't see why not. As long as everywhere else is drained down properly.

I don't think much else will come to harm in cold weather.

Well it has to warm everywhere that there is water,

So will it warm the shower mixer valve, toilet tanks, kitchen sink taps, the water pump, the shower waste and the kitchen waste ?

Otherwise it would be better to drain all the water out, blow it out with compressed air etc.

It will be a lot more trouble if it freezes.

I reckon after a few mild Winters on the trot, there will be quite a few members caught out and posting about problems on here. I only hope I am not one of them.

I drain down anyway but don’t blow it out so it was just a safety measure for the boiler, not too concerned about the rest of the system.

My van includes a Truma Combi, drain it down and open taps then just blow down the taps, so far it has survived -16c with no heating.

We got caught out one year because we didn't leave the taps open. Pipes froze & popped off the connections to the tap underneath.
We learn by our mistakes but sometimes the are so many it's hard to remember them all.:D
