Hi folks, happy New Year.
I've just noticed today in my Autosleeper Executive, that the fridge sitting within it's unit has the remains of a silicon sealant round it's edge. It looks as though at some time in the passed, that the fridge has been removed breaking the seal, fridge put back and not resealed.
My question is... should it be sealed or not?

The answer is Yes.

There are 2 main reasons why:

You can get a cold draught coming into the van from the fridge vents.

There is a very faint possibility of your fridge burner developing a fault and giving off Carbon Monoxide.

Your fridge may not have been previously been removed as I have read of many instances where they have not been sealed properly from new.

Fridge sealant.

Thank you....
That's what brought my attention to it, a hell of a cold draft as I walked passed it. Why I haven't noticed it before I'll never now.....
Thanks again, I'll get it resealed ASAP.

Have a look through the installation part of the manual (Dometic/Electrolux manuals available here Dometic refrigerators - Download Dometic Manuals ) some fridges do need a seal, others have to be fitted into the cabinet to ensure that there is not air circulating around the fridge and reducing its effectiveness in warm weather. If you follow the fitting instructions you'll find that you dont have draughts and that the fridge will work really well.

Vents from the rear of the fridge to the exterior should have baffles and seals to stop air circulating other than around the cooling fins. If you have a lot of draughts from your vents entering the van the installation of the fridge has to be suspect. I'd guess that the top baffle is missing/never fitted.

Fridge sealant

Thanks Roger....
I've now got myself a manual for the fridge. It does say in the installation section that the fridge has to be sealed to maximize it's performance.
So many thanks guys.....
