My ageing Kontiki 640 fridge is in need of some new bits or possibly a replacement fridge.

The current fridge is the original from 1996 and its an Electrolux RM4368.

The burner / jet in it is the incorrect one and it does not combust properly which led to problems last year when we used it and it smelt and set the Co2 alarm off. Its also prone to getting rust and bits on it and not lighting.

The bit we need is Product number 9212271.02 but my motorhome repairer cannot find it anywhere.

If we cant get the bits then I might need a replacement fridge from a breakers but we are both having trouble locating one of them. Dimensions are

31.5" height
19" wide

or 800mm height
482.6mm width

Any ideas where we might get the bits needed or a replacement fridge? I really dont want a new Fridge as I am probably selling the van and they are well north of £1000.

Maybe..
Get a quote for a replacement/alternative fridge
Then advertise with 2 prices and the cost identified

Someone might buy and repair themselves at the lower price
someone might buy knowing they have a new fridge....at a hiher price
Not easy !

I have one of these you can have to strip for spares if you are able to collect it from near Worcester?

It fails to cool, so I suspect has lost its coolant, but apart from that, everything works fine :)

It's only 4 years old but pretty old tech with push button ignition and no electronics as it was bought for my off grid cabin. Heading for the tip soon as it's taking up too much space in the shed.

Very kind thanks for that. Other end of the country though. I have found a replacement fridge at a breakers that might fit. £225 for a 1998 model supposedly working. I think I might have two issues. The burner and the Flue in this one.

The 43 series burner is on ebay for about £60.I think the number 68 means the capacity in litres.Ive got the 42 series which uses the same burner. To stop the rust falling on the burner run a big round file up and down the flue,if the tin case holding the fibre glass matting is rusted away reclad it with empty food tins with both ends cut off,Morrisons potato cans are a perfect fit and tighten up with copper wire just twisted round the cans and spray it with zinc primer for a nice finish. Interspares 01526 322540 quote £124.94 for the 4368 but its the same part as ebay.

Hi, try Cartech website, they have most things.

I think we have located the burner and jet now but its a question of whether the Flue is knackered or not also. So the fridge will have to come out and be properly bench tested and the flue examined. No point in putting a new burner and jet in if the Flue is blocked, too badly corroded or even if its got holes in it apparently. So the first task is to get it to my motorhome bloke next week and get him to take the fridge out. Thanks for all the help.

Good luck with the flue, its about 2mm thick wall tubing so it should be ok,If it were me I would be looking at lining it out with tight fitting copper tubing if it was badly corroded which I doubt.

Good to hear you're sorted Barry.

Would anyone else like this fridge to strip for spares before it goes to the tip? All the hardware is pretty new, but it just doesn't cool. Seems a shame to bin it, but I just don't have the time to strip the parts.

Could be an eBay earner for someone 👍

Thats a good idea. If its 2mm thick then there really should be no holes or leakage in it I would have thought. Who knows? I might suggest your idea to my guy. That and a new burner and jet. What else could there be wrong with it?
