Just about to leave for France. Put fridge on electric last night. It must have been running as elec meter went up by extra 80p overnight. But this morning fridge still at room temp. What to check first? Or where to get it fixed en-route between Sheffield and Canterbury. Saturday so could be tricky Anyone managed to get Thetford service in France?

The dealership will tell you that you only have a two year warranty which is correct, but Thetford give a three warranty which I used in may for my fridge which was not working of 12V. I think you bought your van less than three years ago.

As for your fault I would try running the fridge on gas and see if it works.
On my last van I had the same fault as you, and running it on gas did the trick.
But if you are using power as you indicated, and it does not work on gas you may have a leak.

Good Luck.

Worked neither on gas nor electric. Both working in terms of the heating. The pipe rising to the fins at the top is hot. According to dealer if there are no error codes in theory it should work. He suggested it could be a coolant circulation problem. Take a ride round to try and stir it up. Did so. Gas and elec heating still ok. Beginning to get a bit of cooling at back of freezer now and fins in fridge a tiny bit cooler. I’ll have to run it for a while now to see if the improvement is significant. The fridge is brand new as of a few months ago as they gave up and replaced the original one which never worked right. I imagine this would mean it’s covered by a new Thetford warranty from date of replacement?? If it doesn’t improve we’ll have to delay our departure, typically these problems always arise at weekend! Do you know if these can be regarded?

Have you got a fan you could place to circulate air over the back of the fridge (blowing in the, bottom vent)?

Possibly struggling with the ambient temps at the moment (joys of absorbtion fridges)

I’ve got a fridge fan, but not hot enough here to kick in yet. But it didn’t work overnight…been on since yesterday lunchtime so cooling shoul at least be perceptible.

Got one of those

You can buy 12v "computer fans " very cheaply" !
Use a manual switch (preferably with a light to show when it is on) and a suitable 12v supply

I fitted one of these in the lower vent of my Motorhome - https://amzn.to/3JTwmbl

TITAN- 12V DC IP55 Waterproof Double Rack Mount Ventilation Cooling Fridge Fan Kit with Timer and Speed Controller- TTC-SC22 (120mm)

I know some people make their own kits with computer fans, but this is a nice all-in one setup with manual and auto modes, with different speeds automatically set depending on what the fitted temp sensor reports. Plus very low power so should run on the same 12V line that the fridge electronics is fed by.
I decided to go for the pre-packaged solution and am happy with the product :D
(The price is a pain though :( it has nearly doubled in price since I bough mine a year ago :( )
