Fridge covers when Traveling

Hi all Well just sorting old faithfull ( fingers Crossed) ready for two weeks in scotland just would like some advise on the outside covers for the fridge. Do i travel with them on or not cos they expensive if they come off but do they help with drafts and noise when on the move just not sure what is best. Also any heads up on next two weeks weather up there. Thanks in advance

AFAIK the fridge vent covers are only used when the outside temperature drops below -4 / -6 degrees or somewhere around there, it's to stop the fridge from working excessively!

If you are driving in heavy rain, they can be beneficial in reducing water ingress from road spray ...

cannot see any problem driving with them fitted as they clip firmly to the vents . just dont leave them on whilest parked with the fridge running on gas , saftey reasons

They can be used when the fridge is running on gas - there's a specific flue outlet in the top cover (Electrolux anyway).

The only time I would ever use fridge vent covers is if I was pressure washing the van.

If you get draughts during normal travelling, your fridge enclosure isn't constructed correctly. Take your fridge out and make the enclosure more air tight.

I think the newer dometic fridges vent the exhuast gas through the circulation vents but the older ones definitely have a separate flue. It said mine didn't need a flue, but it came with one, and I fitted it anyway to give positive release of the gases outside.

Fridge Covers

Thanks you all re my covers looking at weather think there will be alot of spray .....even rivers possibly! anyway probably leave them on, also you are right about fridge area not being sealed right did correct this at weekend. My van is spanish Bennimar Orion four berth but very compact love it. Spent winter repairing a small leak which i finally found after months of trial and error, it was bike attachment fittings area so all you carriers check seals reg. Also just to let you know in case i dont return (ha ha) just passed all test to mountain climb........... at my age must be mad but he does munrow bagging so had to out do him and it means he needs me for finishing the inaccesable peak ah ha see you all soon i hope.
