French Alps

If you fancy the Chamonix area go up the valley 15 km to Argentiere there is a 24 hr free parking in the middle of the village, I and others have stayed longer, as usual in France no jobsworth to come and annoy you, or there is a nice parking spot near the little narrow gauge station. The walks are superb you can buy a footpath map for 3 Euro all grades of walk are available direct from the parking spots you can even walk up to the Swiss border ,nice Bakers and Mini mart adjacent. Spent a week there last September.Heaven on earth.

Try Col du Joly -find Hauteluce in the Savoie department and take the road to the Col. Easy parking / wild camping at end of the road by the auberge (no facilities). Beautiful walks / views quite a few vans there in June 05.

thanks to ian81 and snodgrass will have a look.We are also looking to visit Monte- carlo is this possible been a small place???????????/

You can but it is quite a way but a very scenic run with lots of hills!! Suggest Val d'Isere Briancon and keep going south!! There are many stopping places / aires. Have driven through Monte Carlo but not stopped so no experience of any sites.

Monte Carlo

Hi Cipro
Like Ian said, a real beautiful place. In 1991 we spent time there, parked right on the jetty where the rich have their boats. Let the Mrs sort out the water. One of the rich guys were real nice to us. Had a great time. Went back there again in 2005 Summer. What a change. Parked our MH up the hill on a side street and spent the day looking around. Took us 3 hours to find our MH again. All in all, not a good idea trying to find a spot, very difficult. Times have changed. Carry on South, Ian's suggestion is a good one.
