Free view tv via laptop

No it's just a dongle that plugs into usb port but doesn't connect to the to the internet you need a different dongle for that:)Andy

Can I simply just plug this into my laptop and recieve freeview ? seems far too simple to be true, Im not too I/T clever you see. Sounds great if its that simple.

There maybe some software to install first and you may have to be in a strong signal area but sounds ok for the price,i use a portable satellite system from lidl similar to the maxview kits that towsure sell.Andy.

Thanks Andy, I shall find a Netto tomorrow and pick one up.

Cheers

Tom

I've tried one of these TV USB Sticks from Lydl and couldn't get it to work on my laptop. It just wouldn't pick up any channels so i took it back and got a refund.
Saying that though, loads of people do get them to work and say they work well. Everyone say's though that the stick arial you get with them is worse than useless and wont pick anything up. So you need a proper arial plugged into the USB stick.

Should come with software but the arial may be a problem as these small arials are ok if you are in a strong signal area so you might need to get an alternative arial.

From my understanding of freeview tv it seems as areas change over to digital signal in next few years the freeview signal will be boosted to higher levels, can't be boosted yet as this will interfere with the current analouge signal,Andy.

Freeview on Laptop

I've had one of these for a couple of years but now I've upgraded to Windows Vista it don't work! On XP it's pretty good. Just check that it operates with your installed system.

Used to carry one in the truck. It was one of the recommended ones, can't remember the name now, but by the time it was set up it was bed time.I stuck to my telly after that but if room is limited and you have plenty time they work well enough.

hi thanks all,i will certainly look out for this the price seems reasonable,

some of these dongles leave a lot to be desired. One I bought had really crap reception even on my home antenna which gives me 80 freeview channels from various transmitters. Some work fine but until you pays your money you don't know whick type you have, oh and they do need a fair bit of memory to work as well.

Hold onto your horses and the 20 quid........

I bought the dongle with the remote to get freeview on my laptop. The only place I can get it to work is on the 11th floor of a towerblock using a huge digital tv arial! Forget it for motorhome use unless you can connect the usb dongle to a massive antenna. Nice theoretically but practically "Pie in the sky". Can't get my money back though as I bought from a supplier other than Lidl.

Merry merry.
