has anybody tried the free wifi at mcdonalds?
if so can you give us any tips thanx in advance

yes, used it loads of times!you have to set a user name and password just like any website and away you go! any probs order a coffee and take your laptop in and ask a mature member of staff, our local Maccy Dees is always full of reps on the net.I have usually sat in our van outside.Best of luck:cool:

We always use them the best advice I can give is park up close outside and see if you can log on.
It saves having to suffer one of their coffees.

Use them all the time here, just tick the box to say that you accept the conditions of use and away you go. Some we've found like the one here in Chalon sur Sàone you can plug in & charge your battery as well.:).

thanxs for your help
has anyone used mcdonalds in the uk?

Not knocking a great facility, but be aware that the bandwidth is very narrow so don't plan on downloading off iPlayer or the likes.
The other thing is that some restaurants require you to get a login password when you order. I don't know how many but that's what happened to me in Santa Ponca, Mallorca last year.

I noticed Mc D in France in changing their logo from red to green. The newer 'green' ones (all build in the same lay-out) have free Wifi and free hook-up.

used it loads when in oz they are busier than an internet cafe over there, but as said earlier they are so sllllooooowwwwwwwwww downloading
misty

We used it whilst on holiday last year in Cornwall, no probs whatsoever, sat in the van in the car park found it very easy :)

At the moment I am on line in Cherborg and wife is on Skype to her mother no problem

I've used McDonalds wifi all over the country from the car park with no problems.

But... last month in Scotland I noticed the signal seemed weaker than last year in several branches - eg Loch Lomond and Fort William, even though I parked in the same spot in the car parks.

Get yourself a wifi Antenna like this one

Its normally mounted high up on the back of the van but I couldnt be bothered to turn the van round. Its pointing at the houses about 1KM away in the background and is picking up a shared signal. It will pick up McDonalds from about a mile away if the line of sight is good.
