Free View Tele in Narbonne

Just crossed the border into France and parked up at an aire in Narbonne. We have an 85 cm satellite, tried tele not expecting anything and suddenly BBC 1 appears. Don’t know if it’s a good thing because we’ve managed just fine without tele, but we get all channels you would want except Channel 4 (getting 4 + 1). Didn’t realise the footprint reached this far.

We’re heading west towards Italy so it’ll be interesting to see when it stops. Nice change I think. I find trying to watch BBC on the internet just hammers data so I don’t bother.

We have a 85cm dish too and it lost channels about 100 miles north of there last summer.

We lost most of our channels around Bordeaux a few weeks ago, using a Snipe 2 dish.
I thought that was the end of our English tv reception as we headed South, but we stopped near Toulouse, retuned and got most of our normal channels again. Did the same near Carcassonne and got nothing, but further south near Perpignan, got all channels again.
Don’t understand this satellite malarkey, it’s mostly hit and miss.

Yup, then I am going to make a film, write a book, and get rich and famous. Well ok maybe I’m going east. Wondered why I ended up in Carcasonne!

Firstly we are talking about Freesat here aren't we, not Freeview as they are 2 different things?
We live near Gourdon in southwest France, more or less straight inland from Bordeaux. Our camper has a 65cm dish on a French system and we can pick up just about all of the Freesat channels not only around here but much further south as well, as well of course as all the French free channels using their TNT system. The house has a 90cm dish and we pick up all Freesat channels using a Humax receiver with no problems at all.
