Free email account rejected?

probably more just for Phil's eyes really!!. But...
Just tried signing up to another forum for collectors. It uses the same construct as here but they've rejected me because I use a hotmail email acct claiming that only scammers use them. Only real difference is it was run from USA. Just how many scammers do you have to deal with Phil? Or is this other forum admin just taking the p***!!

In truth... A lot!

The difference is I don't stop them signing up, they just cannot do much damage.

No signatures, no private messaging and new members cannot post messages with links in them.

This site automatically adds "nofollow" tags to all outgoing links this means search engines simply ignore them. So adding advertising links in a search engine optimised text is a waste of time.

I ban and delete about 20-30 spam / scam members per week.

All that behind the scenes work to look after the members, so we don't have to worry :cool1:

It's not necessarily a lazy admin on other forums.

Some forums need to deal with a huge amount of abuse and attacks from past users who have become alienated for some reason.

Banning webmail signups is one way of dealing with this... not a very good way in my opinion as so many people use webmail now, but it can stem the flow of attacks on the site.

can you not set up alais on another email account and if you get spammed then you stop using it havve a few spam email alaises in other accounts that i use for other thing and if they get to much spam then i shut them down transfer to another account the one that arent spamming
