hi has any one got any information about lac salagou seen a few pictures and would like to visit this lake while we are in france.
We have wildcamped there a couple of times on our way back from Spain. There is a campsite with a service point for motorhomes (I think)
We stopped right on the lakeside GPS 43.64479, 3.37445 on the south side of the lake, also saw other campers parked on the west side of the shore as well. Found the best way for us to get there from Clermont l'Herault was along the D156 & turn before the village (a really tight turn but I managed in a 7 metre motorhome) The other road from the campsite (the way Tomtom took us) had a dip in the road that clipped the bottom of the van. Our van is quite low & has quite a good overhang so not a problem if you have plenty of ground clearance at the back.
It seems to be quite windy there, we got out in our inflatable canoe & only lasted a short time before we had to get off the lake. They have a siren warning everybody to clear the lake if the planes they use for firefighting are collecting water, this happened a few times so not sure if they were just practising.
