On the France side of the border with Belgium we were pulled by the local Gendarme. I think he was as pleased as we were when he saw the GB number plate but nonetheless.
Checked V5, MOT, Insurance, DL, Tyres, Bike rack lights, and breathalysed.
1sr time we've been turned over in 12 years of doing this so our time was up. Fortunately we passed with flying colours.
Note, NOT on the check list was OUR Breathalysers. Why because finally some concrete 1st person proof we don't need 'em, as we knew (many still believe the AA/RAC/Ferry hype you need 'em).
Not an unpleasant experience TBH. We even got a BOB keyring for our Daughter which we've blu-tacked next to the WC sticker on the front windscreen as a souvenir.
